Appointments

Routine appointments

To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:

We will respond to requests within 5 working days.

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Nurse practitioners

We operate an MDT team across the 2 sites with emphasis on appropriate access and seeing the right clinician at the right time, this will include booking appointments with our nurse practitioners who are experienced nurse and independent prescribers able to see a wide range of conditions, minor illness, minor injury and other acute conditions. Where possible we ask that you book with the nurse practitioners in the first instance.

Specialist nurses

We have diabetes, COPD and asthma specialist nurses 2 days a week, they can be booked online or by phone.

Practice nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering a consultation with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments.

Practice nurse appointments are booked in advance. Nurses appointment times vary depending on procedure.

HCA – Healthcare assistants

We offer healthcare assistants on both of our sites who undertake: blood tests, blood pressure checks, wound care, ECGs, removal of stitches or staples, NHS health checks, certain injections: B12, Flu, shingles, pneumonia, spirometry, diabetes care.

Care navigators

When you call for an appointment your call will be transferred to our care navigators on reception. At the GPs request, they will ask for the reason you need to see a clinician today, this is so we can direct your appointment efficiently to the right clinician.

We do understand that there may be times when you wish this information to remain confidential. Please do inform the care navigators if that is the case and they will enter the reason as personal. We would like to assure you that our care navigators handle this information sensitively and use booking templates on the clinical system so the information which can be seen is sensitively recorded.

Paramedics

Our paramedics across both site offering pre bookable telephone appointments for a wide range of conditions, minor illness, minor injury and other acute conditions.

Pharmacists

Pharmacists are qualified experts in medicines and can help patients in a range of ways. This includes carrying out structured medication reviews for patients with on-going health problems, advice for those on multiple medicines and improving patient safety and outcomes through a person-centred approach.

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to book a telephone consultation we do appreciate this is not always possible and you may need a home visit if you are housebound. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP or paramedic will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
